The main points to be considered in designing sub-station facilities are:
Transformer
Transportation by train and road to the erection location Insulation for high voltage & compact design
Surge arrester
Low limiting voltage level and high energy absorption capacity
Circuit-breaker
Parallel resistor for switching surge damping of huge capacity of energy absorption
Disconnector
Parallel resistor of compact size & high voltage withstanding
